Mystery Snail Confirmed in Meredith

NHDES Confirms Presence of Chinese Mystery Snail in Lake Waukewan

Recently Amy Smagula, NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Exotic Species Program Coordinator confirmed the identification of an invasive snail recently removed from Lake Waukewan.  Although there is no large scale management options at this time, there are things you can do to help prevent any further spread of Chinese Mystery Snail:

Clean, Drain and Dry your boats (including kayaks, canoes and all other watercraft)  when removing them a water body before putting them in into another body;

Remove any plants, mud and/or animal species from your boats/trailers before entering the next water body; and

Scan the shallow water and rocks and remove any Chinese Mystery Snails and dispose of them in your trash.  Removal and disposal IS recommended by NHDES and no permit is required.
