SELECTMEN’S ORIENTATION WORKSHOP

Roll Call at 4:00 p.m. Open Workshop by Peter Miller, Vice-Chair

 

Election of Chair and Vice-Chair

 

Motion by Frank Michel to nominate Peter Miller as Chair. Miller L. Seconded.

 

Peter Brothers nominated Frank Michel as Chair and Peter Miller as Vice Chair.

 

In discussion, Peter Brothers noted that he thought a long time about who would bring the most experience to a new board for the first year, which is the reason for his nomination. Frank declined the nomination and indicated that he could not due to time commitments and believed there was a wealth of experience with Peter Miller.

In discussion the Board unanimously agreed with the excellent experience of Peter Miller to assist the new Board. Motion passed for Peter Miller to be Chair by a vote of 4 yes and one abstention by Peter Miller.

 

Next, Miller Lovett moved to elect Frank as Vice-Chair. The motion was seconded by Colette and carried 4-0 with I abstention by Frank.

 

Orientation Power Point Presentation

The Town Manager then presented an orientation via power point, which covered all aspects of Town operations.

 

Selectmen Representation

The Boards and Committees were reviewed and discussed and the following actions occurred:

 

Planning Board – Frank moved and Miller L.  seconded for Colette Worsman to be the Board representative to the Planning Board. Carried 5-0.

 

Transportation Advisory Committee – Peter Brothers moved and Colette seconded for Frank Michel to be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

DOT Project Advisory Committee – MillerL. moved and Peter Brothers seconded for Frank to be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Capital Improvement Program (CIP) – Frank moved and Colette seconded for Miller Lovett to be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Parks & Recreation Commission – Peter Brothers moved and Miller L. seconded Frank Michel be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Greater Meredith Program Committee – Colette moved and Frank seconded Miller Lovett be the representative to the Design Committee and the Economic Development Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Village Greenway Committee – Frank moved and Miller L. seconded Peter Miller be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Waukewan Watershed Advisory Committee – Colette moved and Peter Brothers seconded Peter Miller be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Fire Station Building Advisory Committee – Frank moved and Miller L. seconded Peter Brothers be the representative to the Committee. Carried 5-0.

 

Selectmen Responsibilities –

There was discussion involving Board involvement, ethics, communication and varied operational items. Further arrangements will be made concerning departmental tours, meetings and more detailed information.

 

Frank Michel moved to enter a non-public session to discuss personnel, real estate, and legal matters under RSA-91-A:3 II a , d, and e.  The Selectmen entered non-public session at 7:15 pm.

 

Motion was made by Frank Michel, seconded by Miller Lovett to move out of non-public at 7:50 adjourned the workshop at 7:50 pm.  Unanimous vote.
