Assessing Department
The Assessing Department is responsible for determining the value of properties for tax purposes. The office reviews the market value of homes, businesses, and land to calculate property taxes, which help fund local services like schools, roads, and public safety. It ensures that property taxes are fair and reflect current property values. The office also handles tax exemptions, appeals, and keeps records of property ownership and assessments.
Information regarding exemptions/credits, current use, online assessment database, tax maps, and more can all be found on our website. The assessment online database is updated weekly.
Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Assessing Department is to ensure that all property within the town is assessed fairly and in accordance with the New Hampshire laws governing taxation. Toward that end, the department conducts various practices to ensure an equitable distribution of the tax burden.
