Forest Management

Information regarding forest and timber management on Meredith forests

Town forests are generally managed for the health of the forest and the wildlife the forests supports.  Logging activities can involve creating diverse wildlife habitats, removing diseased trees, thinning overgrown forests, and encouraging species diversity.  Although revenue generation is not the primary goal, forestry efforts can bring in significant revenues for the town.  Logging is done in accordance with forest management plans prepared with the town forester in conjunction with the Meredith Conservation Commission.

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests has a short overview of forestry goals titled "How do you save forests by cutting down trees? "which you can access here
